Our GIT peptides are what makes us who we are, our thinking, our personality, our individuality and what makes us different from animals and from other people too

A funny story about dietary protein, together with a pinch of "cynicism".

  1. Thousands, or maybe millions of peptides absorbed/produced from dietary protein in the intestines (gastro-intestinal tract = GIT) are essentially the only things that differentiate us from one another. In my opinion, there isn’t anything else that could serve as a source of individual metabolic or epigenetic differences. I deliberately make use of the term ‘difference’ and not "variability", since the term ‘variability’ is reserved for the variations in traits exhibited by individuals within a species, as described by Mr. Darwin in his theory of evolution. The metabolism of fats and carbohydrates is merely to produce energy and endogenous amino acids also participate in these metabolic processes. Think about how much of these endogenous amino acids the intestine burns (as an energy source)!!!!

  1. Dietary peptides, formed from exogenous amino acids + glutamine, are absorbed from the intestines by the transporter PepT1. In fact, it seems that only peptides made from exogenous amino acids or in combination with endogenous amino acids are absorbed. Peptides formed from endogenous amino acids are probably not absorbed - but are they produced? And if they are produced, are they not by chance bad, undesirable, etc. Like those that post-doc Dr. Zypser once made in my lab from soy protein treated with trypsin, which poisoned mice in a second after being administered orally. Better than the Botulinum toxin, a teaspoon of which could poison 1/8 of the world's population. Is that a large teaspoon of almost everyone? That would be wonderful.

  1. Peptides vs. personality - individual differences in personality (etc.) occur because of the specificity and effect of absorbed peptides. Someone may be pretty, tall, smart, strong or unfortunately none of those things for example.

  1. Peptides vs. Alzheimer's. The fewer absorbed peptides (and the more amino acids), the more certain the development of dementia - and Alzheimer's - the king of dementia. That is why the trial that is currently being performed in Angelhom hospital is going so well, in which significant improvements are being observed in Alzheimer's patients receiving pancreatic enzymes and AKG. This is probably a result of the creation of peptides from dietary protein and the synthesis of plastein peptides, as well as the stimulation of the formation of PepT1 by other pancreatic enzymes e.g., amylase.

  1. The lack of pepsin (the queen of plastein peptides), trypsin, chymotrypsin and elastase (which are also important role players in the plastein reactions of peptide formation) is the first step in the development of dementia, Alzheimer's, as well as aging. Patients after bariatric surgery with gastric resection (pepsin) have been shown to exhibit personality changes.

  1. PepT2, an intra-metabolic, inter-organ, peptide transporter is responsible for delivering absorbed peptides to where they are needed, e.g. to the brain, to think, or to the muscles, to be strong and run recreationally, e.g. 10 km in the morning and in the evening – you can run more and additionally, e.g. swim or ride a bike. Sic!

  1. And now the most important thing!....... I feel that in the central nervous system (CNS) - there must be sensory receptors on neurons that are active only when you need them to be active. I believe they are ‘opened’ (in a state in which they can bind a protein and be activated), for example, by an electrical signal, of which there are plenty in the CNS. Once ‘opened’, these receptors can then bind peptides that were once absorbed from the GIT or maybe produced by other tissue – lever or even brain. And if it's not like that and it's different? Then I will never understand how it is that I think and I am. Of course, you can think at different levels of peptide concentrations, e.g. lower ones – like animals have (etc.).
